I've got to say 'The Third Man', never seen anything better in the genre, it's Carol Reed's masterpiece.

I also enjoy his other films that have a crime or criminal element involved, The Man Between,Fallen Idol and Odd Man Out.I watched another fun thriller the other day 'I See A Dark Stranger' with a young Deborah Kerr, very amusing.

Cheers Simon

"The Third Man" was shown just a couple of days ago on the Turner Classic Movie (TCM) channel. It has great atmosphere and you're drawn into the story in spite of yourself. Trevor Howard is excellent (as always). The movie shown right after it was "Father Goose" which also had T.H. in it. It's TCM's "31 Days of Oscar", movies that were nominated and in some cases won. "In Which We Serve" was shown last night. I'd like to get it but it's not available in NTSC.

I'm planning on getting "The Third Man", though. I used to listen to it on radio. The radio version starred Marius Goring as Harry Lime and was very good. You could almost see the wet cobblestoned streets.

It was a wonderful treat
To hear the patter of horsey feet.

I misremembered who starred in the radio version. In checking the trivia for it on IMDb, it was, surprise surprise, Orson Welles. Marius Goring starred in the radio version of "The Scarlet Pimpernel". I always preferred it over any filmed version.

I was checking out what DVDs were available for "The Third Man". The Criterion Collection (they do excellent work) is one of the available DVDs.
