Don't forget the Carry On Films started very nearly 50 years ago, so it's not suprising many of the cast are dead. If you look at a lot of Film and TV Stars of that time, most are no longer with us.

Sid James - 63
Kenneth Williams - 62
Charles Hawtrey - 74
Bernard Breslaw - 59
Joan Sims - 71
Hattie Jacques - 58
Terry Scott - 67

But then the average is raised by people like
Esma Cannon - 80

and it's raised a lot further by people like
Barbara Windsor - still alive
June Whitfield - still alive

I don't see any sign of a disproportionate death rate, or many of them dying very young.

That's true but there is that concentartaion round the late 50s and early 60s for 5 core team members which gives the impression of premature deaths in general.

Jim Dale's still around too of course!

Jack Douglas is still clinging on! looking at Jim Dale's entry on IMDB, I was stuck by how much like Spike Milligan he now looks.

No Nick ! You have made a mistake; that IS Spike Milligan, photographed at
the Cardiff Olympics in 1963. - It's been a missprint of the name.
An easy mistake to make though; If you translate the words "spike" ,
"melly" , and "goon" into Welsh, it comes out as Jhi mnl Dahle boyo; the
Type-Setter has then used a little intelligence and removed the surplus consonants,
and VOILA ! Spike Milligan becomes Jim Dale.
Time for another tablet.

A noble effort Ady

Remember that Jim Dale did play Spike in Adolf Hitler - My Part in His Downfall (1972), where Spike did a cameo playing his own father.
