Could we possibly add Without A Clue,

An overlooked comedy gem.

Thanks

I agree. He was excellent in The Statement and The Quiet American. In an interview, Caine said that his work in The Quiet American was the culmination of all his acting experience. I always liked him, but the performances he gave when he was much older, in his 60s and on, were excellent.

Good one there Dave! Ray Winstone was in that and he didn't even swear, like he ususally does! Mind you he played a good part in a recent re-run of Kavanagh QC as a repressed homosexual Chief Petty Officer! Well, you know what sailors are!!!!

Good morning boys.

I was watching WIND & LION and then MAN WHO WOULD BE KING, and MAN achieves the sweeping spectacle goal that somehow eludes the excellent WIND & LION.

SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM is one of my favorites, too.

So many to choose from.

CIDER HOUSE RULES got a lot of attention but I didn't care much for it, overall. When it's come time to re-watch any Caine movies, there are a lot worth rewatching but CIDER never fermented into anything palatable. But at least I remember it.

He's been in some grand films and not so's, and he's gone from a pretty boy seductor into LITTLE VOICE'S Complete Has-Been. Even in CIDER, he's showing a caring person who's one escape ends up being a big trapdoor.

SLEUTH is an awesome story, and comparing it to a MAN WHO WOULD BE - another essentially 2-man 'play' - shows how useful OR useless sets and scenery can be.

An interesting character who's used his age for some perfect performances.

Voted for Zulu (well, I would, wouldn't I!), but always had a liking for The Last Valley. Definitely underrated in my opinion.

My favourite Caine film is Funeral in Berlin.

I have never understood why this one never gets the recognition I think it deserves. I think it's a far better film than the much-praised Ipcress File.

One of my partner's favourites.

But I think the best Caine scene has to be 'It's Over' in Little Voice - absolutely fantastic!

I'm Alfie's girl! It was totally Caine. I find him suitable for limited array of characters. For example, I think he was miscast as Michael Finsbury in "The Wrong Box".

Hi Bats

I presume you prefer it to Funeral in Berlin. Can you tell me why?
