Default Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy

I've just been watching (again) the Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy film which I thoroughly enjoy watching! :)

I also have the original BBC TV Series on DVD as well which I also still enjoy watching. ;)

Do you think they will ever get around to doing another film as a continuation as at the end they were off to the Restaurant At The End Of The Universe, or is that it?

Never seen the film as I think it would spoil my memory of the original BBC series - for me there is only one Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Zaphod, etc.....

Believe me, it will not spoil your memory of the original TV Series!

I saw this film at the cinema when it first came out, after the first few minutes of the film when the "Thanks for all the fish" song is being sung and just when you think the film has begun, along comes the original txeme tune from the TV series which sent a big grin across my face as when I looked around it seemed like I was the only one in the cinema who recognised the theme music, it was then that the film realy began!

On leaving the cinema, the only thing I was dissapointed with was Marvin, as he was now completely different - instead of being square he has been rounded off with a few curves. But all is not lost! The original Marvin robot from the BBC TV Series plays a cameo role in the film, when I say this I pointed a the screen with a big grin on my face and looked around and no one knew what I was pointing at!

Having seen the TV series will only enhance your viewing pleasure of this film!

Douglas Adams was heavily involved with this film which is one of the reasons (in my humble opinion), that it is so good!

:)

The film was utterly dreadful. Pedestrian acting and an overfondness for special FX.
I walked out of the cinema in disgust.

I thought it was dreadful too. I'd been raving about the radio and TV versions to my Canadian wife.

What a let down that was.

But do you mean the TV series or the original radio series?

That was quite interesting, because of the use of graphics. But Marvin looked much better on the radio, as did Zaphod's other head

I'm sure it did!

I made the mistake of seeing Ralph Bakshi's "interpretation" of Lord of the Rings in 1980 - bloody well killed off my head-dwelling characters....

Even the latest films haven't redeemed matters

Sorry to say the film did nothing for me either. The idiosyncrasies and charm were absent the whole thing seemed dumbed-down to cater for the youth market. Would have hired Terry Gilliam myself.

Well, the casting of Martin Freeman speaks volumes for their intended audience really.

Personally, I quite liked it, but then again I am too young to have known the original TV/Radio series'.
