Why oh Why dont they bring back the 3D pictures i often heard my mum talking about going to see the house of wax when she was younger and she said it was fantastic in 3D. There is a 3D cinema in Belfasts Odysey arena that show only 3D pictures and it always is hard to book a seat. They should bring them back every where so this generation can enjoy them. Can you imagine with todays special effects how good it would be going to see a 3D picture.

The last 3-D films I can remember seeing were Jaws 3-D and a spaghetti western called (imaginatively) Comin' At Ya, both in the 80s.

Not British but britishish, Dial M for Murder was filmed in the polarised 3d system...and occasionally gets a run out at the NFT, one of the last places that can still screen it, as it requires two synchronised 35mm projectors....

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

I believe there are two different methods of showing 3D movies, one requires the red and green spectacles and the other requires polarised spectacles. In the 1950's 3D films required two projectors and two strips of film running in perfect synch and the use of polarised specs. In the 1960's when 3D made a bit of a revival the red and green specs were used for a single film strip process witch saw two images overlayed on each other on a single strip of film and the 3D effect achieved by wearing the red and green specs, apparently it wasn't as impressive an effect as the dual projector polarised system. Stephen Speilberg is working on the patent for a system of 3D cinema that requires no glasses or accesories worn by the viewer. Be interesting to see if it works!!

I think the huge success of "The Polar Express" in its 3D presentation has prompted great interest in the 3D format again.......the advent of digital technology has eliminated the need for a dual projector system so much easier to present 3D films now and films that were originally shot in 2D can be converted into 3D presentations. George Lucas is rumoured to be thinking of converting his Star Wars films to 3D, heaven help us!!! hasn't he made enough money from those films!!!
