Default Planet Relief

Now that the BBC has dropped plans for a day-long special called Planet Relief, hosted by Ricky Gervais and Jonathan Ross, might we see some of the air time filled with a few British films?

When was that supposed to be on?

I suppose, now that we have been spared a day of Ross and Gervais. they could show some Brit films under the umbrella title 'Blessed Relief' .

Apparently the poor ratings and hostile/cynical reception to Live Earth killed the programme off.

I'm not surprised - the 'peasants' are wising-up to the fact that it appears to have more to do with taxing even more of our hard-earned dosh!

Don't be silly, the BBC won't show any British films instead of that as that would come under the heading 'Entertaining the Lowly Licence-Payers' and they're phasing that out.
I like Bats's idea though - 'Blessed Relief' sounds just about right!

YDS x.

Or more specifically, the reactions to Gervais after his embarrassing performance at Live Earth?

As this programme has apparently been planned for 18 months, you can, with confidence, place a small wager on Ross & Gervais getting a fee. How much was it I paid for a TV licence last week?

I think it's only Wogan who takes a fee for charity work - and then declares that he 'would have done it for nothing'!

Steve
I think there was a lot of cynicism over the motives of some performers (plugging new single/album) and the public being lectured to by stars who probably own 6 cars and a private jet. At the time I had to laugh at all the stage lighting being turned on during a bright summer afternoon. The Madonna and Terence Stamp finale was toe-curlingly embarresing.

btw Gervais died on stage at the Diana gig.

Unless someone at the BBC has realised that the public has had enough of this propaganda that Man is to blame for climate change (once upon a time known as the weather). I do believe in creating anti-pollution methods, not using the car for small journeys, the conservation of our wildlife and countryside, but I also think that what we are going through has happened before in cycles.
There is a lot of hyprocasy from our newscasters. ITN are always pontificating to us about global warming, but whenever there is a serious incident abroad, they always send Mark Austin over to report it,despite having a reporter over there.

He just fits that in occasionally with his permanent holiday!
Giving that man a job as a 'peace envoy' after he's enraged the people of his own country good and proper, seems rather silly to me.
I think that Bush actually created the job for him as a 'sweetener' to keep him quiet - I don't believe it previously existed. He's already had to be put in his place once by Basmati Rice who had to remind him that SHE is in charge; he gets enough of that at home!
