I really enjoyed the Shirley Bassey night on BBC-4 this weekend. It was such a privilege to see one of the finest musicians perform, and the documentary provided a fascinating look into the life of Bassey and her music. One of my favourite Bassey songs is 'The Magic is You' - it seems to be little-known as it hasn't been released on any of her compilations to my knowledge.
Did anyone happen to record the middle segment of this fabulous trio - "The Shirley Bassey Show" from 1976?
Any positive replies would be greatly appreciated!
i recorded the whole lot but i dont trade shows or films as i very rarely collect stuff these days
Dame Shirley performed many of my favourite tracks, in an extremely well chosen repertoire with terrific, volcanically explosive drama … stylish grace and sheer class and panache … opening with Diamonds Are Forever, and including a sexy performance of Kiss Me Honey Honey, Big Spender … a thundering version of What Now My Love accompanied by the drums of the Welsh Guards, The Girl From Tiger Bay, I Am What I Am, and climaxing with a powerhouse rendition of Goldfinger amidst a blizzard of gold confetti.
This magnificent BBC Electric Proms 2009 concert by Dame Shirley just gets better and better on each viewing …
Here is the entire Dame Shirley Bassey … BBC Electric Proms Concert (in 7 parts) from the Roundhouse, London 2009 … via YouTube … a stunning, sensational, electrifying performance with Dame Shirley Bassey at the very top of her form … performing a superbly chosen repertoire of classic and new, of powerhouse and poignant composition selections … presented in a perfect order (opening with Diamonds Are Forever and climaxing with Goldfinger) … beautifully arranged by Musical Directors/Conductors … Bond composer David Arnold and Mike Dixon … and complimented by a terrific performance by the BBC Concert Orchestra.

I remember seeing an interview with John Barry ... Shirley Bassey had asked John in 1964 ...
'How do you want me to sing Goldfinger?'
John Barry replied saying ... 'Just give it everything you've got ...'
John said quietly ... 'So she did ... and wow!'
The BBC4 repeat Dame Shirley’s spectacular concert has helped me lift my spirits during a very difficult time.
