Always though Phil Spector was overrated as a personality and a talent anyway.

I suggest you listen to some of his 1960s recordings - if anyone in 20th century popular music deserves the title of genius it's Spector - miles ahead of the rest.

Ono recently scored a number one in the US dance charts with Give Me Something from the 1980 Double Fantasy album.

Some of the mixes are great including one with Sparks.

Lennon always said she was ahead of her time-In the late 70s after hearing some of their work,he claimed the B52s were copying yoko's style.......i have only heard 'love shack' myself and cannot imagine yoko singing that!!

I know Lene Lovich always claimed Yoko as a big influence. I wonder whatever happened to her?

Also not a fan of Spector - think 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' is one of the all-time great singles, but apart from that find him rather dull. Don Was (crazy name, crazy guy) worked with Brian Wilson later and described Spector as black and white while Brian was Technicolor.

Enjoyed the Plastic Ono Band programme - that and 'Barrett' were constant companions during the winter of 70/71 and I always preferred this to 'Imagine' which did have Spector all over it.

I'll need to watch the docu again though - did they cover all the songs ? (Did they miss our 'Remember' ?)

I may be wrong but I can`t remember them covering that one Charlie. I have downloaded from iplayer so will have to watch it again to see.

BTW does anyone know how long you have them for if you download stuff by iplayer? Do they take them off after a month or so?

I'm probably all alone here, but I really despise The Righteous Brothers Unchained Melody (produced by Phil Spector). When it gets to the emotive high notes, I always feel compelled to howl along. (Try it some time, it's oddly satisfying).

Many thanks for all the Lene Lovich updates!

I quite like that version but can`t stand any of the cover versions. Robson Green for example!

I know, it's hugely popular. I just can't stand it.

I'd blocked out the Robson Green version, but it's all come horribly flooding back now that you've mentioned it....

Rewatched it today and they did skip over Look At Me, Well Well Well and Remember (shame) but spent quite some time on Instant Karma and Cold Turkey - neither of them on the album !

Had a look at the not so helpful help page for iplayer and there does seem to be an expiry limit on downloaded programmes but it's not at all clear what it is - it may even be different for different programmes :

7.1 The basis on which BBC makes BBC iPlayer available to you

Thanks Charlie, yes that seems to be the only thing they don`t tell you, how long you have to keep it.
