Iv`e just watched this, origionally shown on BBC2 and is now on iplayer. A really good docu in my opinion and of course amazing music. I now have a lump in my throat because of Lennons beautiful words.

Good to see a major contribution from Ringo too.

Suprising info that Phil Spector was as much use as a chocolate fireguard but recieved a lot of credit for his work.

I'm just watching it now. The Classic Album series is just sensational, isn't it?. You get so much insight into the process, the musicians and the era.

My all time favourite one was on Dark Side of The Moon. Couldn't get the Floyd all in the same room but it was magic all the same.

Yup - hadn't heard Plastic Ono Band in years, and was surprised by how good many of the tracks sounded. Klaus Voorman was a good bassist, wasn't he?

(And Yoko was a sexy little minx back in those days.)

Well, I'd rather hear her singing than read her god-awful poetry.

Yes! He contributed nothing of value to what was an otherwise superb documentary. The great moments were when the engineers isolated Lennon's vocals - brilliant.

Yes,although lennons vocals were still 'double tracked' by the sound of them-lennon apparently disliked his own voice after being dissatisfied with the 'twist and shout' vocal,i've never understood his paranoia as i think he has great feeling in his voice!

I'm with you there - mine too!

Interesting that Ringo said he had no memory of Phil Spector producing the album at all.

Also, no disrespect to Yoko, but it must have been fairly alarming for the other musicians to have her wander into the recording studio and grab a microphone and start squeaking while you're all cheerfully playing away. I suppose it speaks volumes about John's devotion to her that he let her contribute something so out of the box, knowing it would get a lot of negative comment.

Always though Phil Spector was overrated as a personality and a talent anyway.

I suggest to you that it was more of a screeching than a squeaking where Yoko was concerned

I think when John went solo it was a case of `what John wants, John gets` and that meant people had to work with Yoko and her talents too. I`d have loved to be a fly on the wall out of the studio when the other musicians analysed their day down the pub

There's a clip (no doubt it'll be on youtube) of the rolling stones 'rock and roll circus' extravaganza in which yoko is 'singing' one of her songs accompanied by john on guitar, keith richards on bass, possibly clapton on lead guitar (can't remember the drummer?) and a violin player who is dying to burst out laughing during yokos vocals but is biting his lip so hard! It's really funny!

The first half-hour of any post-Yoko pub time would have been devoted to soothing ragged nerves with stiff belts of whiskey after listening to the 'arthouse' noises she'd been emitting. I'm sure some of them still start at loud noises to this day.

Clapton, yes, Mitch Mitchell was the drummer, and the violinist, was Ivry Gitlis, who was far from wanting to laugh.

According to the commentary on the DVD of R'n'R Circus, Yoko was very reluctant to get up, and if you watch, it's John who makes her get up. Gitlis is annoyed, because he thought it was going to be his spot, Clapton, Richards, and Mitchell were all cool about it, according to Marianne Faithful's account, and respected her. Clapton played several times on Yoko's records and backing her in concerts.

The clip, btw, is no longer on YT.

Well he has a funny way of displaying anger as i remember him laughing when i watched it a couple of years ago? (unless he was trying to make yoko look stupid?)

Yes,i searched for it on you tube before-only audio tracks! This is happening more and more and soon there will be no point in you tube!
