Thumbs up

I watched Spooks last night (a recording),but the recording stopped just before the end credits rolled. To those who watched it,who was the actor who played the taxi driver, picking up Harry at the back of the shop? I know his face from somewhere .

There were a few names at the end of the cast list like Ged Simmons as "Dixon". He's done all the usual shows for a working character actor like The Bill (DI Alex Cullen), Eastenders (DC Ross Fox) and many others.

Look up his credits on the IMDb.

Thanks,Steve
It was his role as DI Alex Cullen in The Bill that I remember him for. He wasn't in it that long though.
Again,thanks

Default Spooks

Series 6 starts 16th October. Great entertainment and some excellent performances, particularly from Peter Firth.

I love the way they're not afraid to kill off main characters and replace them with even better ones.

Or at least, with other characters
It's all dramatic nonsense of course despite their claims that it's thoroughly researched. But it's good dramatic nonsense.

After the quality of the past few series I am amazed its still been produced

and after all its one of the few shows that never had a phone line for you to call that could be fixed or rigged

"Seya next time!"

Default "Spooks"

Thanks to DVD. I've become hooked the series "Spooks" (know here as "MI-5"). By far, one of the best tv series I've seen. Very well made. I'm in the middle of series 3 and I know that series 4 & 5 are now out on DVD. Is the show is still being produced? If so what series are they in now?

An excellent series - I felt it lost its way in Series 3 [and not because you-know-who was missing!] but much improved in 4-6. Series 6 finished its first run just before Christmas.

It is great drama. Just don't be fooled into thinking that the life of a real spook is that dramatic, or that they really have all that technology available
But it's great drama.

They've show a 6h series here and I believe they're working on a 7th

One thing many people admire about it is the way they're not afraid to lose a lead character. Quite a few have been killed off, others have been sent into exile (the opposition being told they were dead)

Yes it was a blow that Tom left the series

I'm glad to see that "Spooks" is so popular and is still going. I have more to look forward to. Last night I watched the episode from series 3 where Danny is assigned to kill somebody on a ferry. I thought it was a powerful episode and he gave a great performance too.

Two American shows that have gone through major cast changes over the years are "Law & Order" and "E.R" which just keep on going. I think both (especially "E.R.") have passed their prime and are starting to go down hill. Part of the problem is, that while British series may have ten episodes, most American series usually have 22-24 per season. It has to be much harder to produce that many and still keep up the quality.

Don't worry Steve, I know it's just television and that the real-life spooks don't have it so good. I would think a lot of their work gets pretty boring at times. Still, it's great fun to watch.
