Of the present day ones I quite like Waldemar Januszczak with his "Baroque" & "Sculpture" series!
Having just watched Terry Jones presenting Great Maps Mysteries on a satellite channel I wondered if anyone would like to contribute their favourite or preferred presenter past or present.
Perhaps you have, like me, been surprised at the choice of presenter but it has worked well for the program.
I find Terry very watch-able, having been a fan of his for some years now, and he is always enthusiastic about whatever he he is doing. Maybe there have been some shows that would have worked better with different presenters? Or who would your dream presenter be?
One that springs to mind for me was Mark Williams when he did Industrial Revelations, the new series has a new chap whose name escapes me but I no longer watch as it isn't presented the same way.
I did a quick search in case this thread has appeared before so apologies if it has, just put it down to my age....![]()

Werner Herzog
I too enjoyed Mark Williams presenting Industrial Revelations and his series On the Rails.
Industrial Revelations the European Story was presented by Ronald Top which I couldn't get in to. Then Rory McGrath presented Industrial Revelations Best of British who I can't watch no matter how interesting the subject.
A good presenter in my book is someone who can engage my interest and enlighten me even in a subject which normally leaves me cold.
I generally have zero interest in mechanical or engineering themes but Fred Dibnah never failed to keep me riveted (see what I did there?)
Genuine enthusiasm for a subject is often infectious.
Jonathan Meades is always fun, but he does more than just present I suppose.......

Matt Frei did a very good job with his Berlin programmes on the BBC and was often roving round the world doing location reporting but I was quite surprised to see him pop up as just a newsreader on Channel 4 recently.
