This new show from Gervais/Merchant hasn't had much of a mention yet, aside from a comment on Ricky Gervais's actors thread.

The first episode felt like Extra's in reverse. As Andy Millman in Extra's Gervais was a struggling bit parter who eventually becomes a star, in LTS Warwick Davis is the star whose career is in decline, with as it was pointed out on RG's actors thread Warwick Davis in the Gervais role. Ricky is himself now the star looking down (no pun intended) on Davis.

LTS itself was patchy but at least avoided too many short gags (save for the intercom & dog flap) and included a droll turn from the perpetually glum looking Liam Neeson, wanting to try his hand at comedy.

Enough promise I think, to keep me watching

I enjoyed it enough to not make me wish I hadn't watched it. Gervais playing his oh so successful self irritated me.

I don't know whether the material will be enough to stretch over six episodes. A one-off, yeah. We'll see.

But the real problem for me was that Warwick Davis was clearly delivering lines written for RG - and he was copying RG's delivery.

    Anybody see episode two?

I notice it's not even RT's pick of the day by next week!

    The brilliant Rev still is...

Again the celeb cameo was the only amusing segment. It's just over-familiar, as if Warwick is reading an old Gervais script and the egocentric fading z-lister was perfectly executed by Steve Coogan's Partridge.

Shaun Williamson reprising his role in Extras had an amusing cameo with his Office/decoration line.

Not out and out funny Ricky Gervais's comedy never is, but I find it has just enough laughs to keep me watching.
