We didn't see the police take the first one. They could have both been the same one. It's a country town (although filmed in the city of York). It only has two defence lawyers in the town and it doesn't seem to have many police because one of those lawyers has to do the job of a policeman in the first incident. In a country area it isn't too hard to find a few rifles, or shotguns
The kick back doesn't affect the targeting. If you're shooting into a crowd it's easy to hit someone with every shot. Maybe not the person you were aiming at, but someone
The kick back only happens after shooting but my point is that it takes practice not to anticipate kickback after firing, at one point a melon and a man's shoulder were hit within seconds of each other. Also as the new angel was running up the stairs a shot was fired that hit Sam West's girlfriend in the back, why did the girl feel it necessary to to shoot her, she must have realised it wasn't the bride.
A girl living in the country could well be practised at firing a rifle. The g/f was shot because it was pertinent to the story.
As I said above, firing into a crowd you are sure to hit someone, but maybe not the person you were aiming at.
As for firing again despite any kick back, tell that to the Warren Commission who investigated the Kennedy assassination

Really, if you pull the rifle tight into your shoulder then the kick back is mainly horizontal and doesn't throw the rifle off its aim - much
The courtroom had windows
Which appeared to be quite high up.
But she would have had to enter the courtyard, going through the covered alley that everyone ran out of. Also assuming that the court had cells why wasn't the prisoner taken back down to them, rather that outside where he could have easily escaped or had accomplices waiting to help him.
The place she was firing from was on the other side of the square to the courtroom.
As for why the prisoner wasn't taken back to the cells, as I said above, they don't seem to have any policemen in this country town
