    Fair enough

The kick back doesn't affect the targeting. If you're shooting into a crowd it's easy to hit someone with every shot. Maybe not the person you were aiming at, but someone
The kick back only happens after shooting but my point is that it takes practice not to anticipate kickback after firing, at one point a melon and a man's shoulder were hit within seconds of each other. Also as the new angel was running up the stairs a shot was fired that hit Sam West's girlfriend in the back, why did the girl feel it necessary to to shoot her, she must have realised it wasn't the bride.

    The courtroom had windows
Which appeared to be quite high up.

But she would have had to enter the courtyard, going through the covered alley that everyone ran out of. Also assuming that the court had cells why wasn't the prisoner taken back down to them, rather that outside where he could have easily escaped or had accomplices waiting to help him.

Lastly, when Sam west got the message that his g/f had taken a turn for the worse someone rang the bell, why didn't they phone him, why did they contact him at all, nobody knew him, the patient certainly didn't.
Angels mustn't be able to drive.

It's getting too confusing to do this under cover of a SPOILER tag. Anyone who doesn't want to see anything about the show shouldn't be reading a thread about the show - not even you Nick

Anyway, all of this isn't much to do with the plot, just with some little niggles that Freddy had about the way some things happened

We didn't see the police take the first one. They could have both been the same one. It's a country town (although filmed in the city of York). It only has two defence lawyers in the town and it doesn't seem to have many police because one of those lawyers has to do the job of a policeman in the first incident. In a country area it isn't too hard to find a few rifles, or shotguns

A girl living in the country could well be practised at firing a rifle. The g/f was shot because it was pertinent to the story.

As I said above, firing into a crowd you are sure to hit someone, but maybe not the person you were aiming at.
As for firing again despite any kick back, tell that to the Warren Commission who investigated the Kennedy assassination
Really, if you pull the rifle tight into your shoulder then the kick back is mainly horizontal and doesn't throw the rifle off its aim - much

The place she was firing from was on the other side of the square to the courtroom.
As for why the prisoner wasn't taken back to the cells, as I said above, they don't seem to have any policemen in this country town
Finally, and this covers all the points you have raised - it's fiction
    Angels aren't real

I like the way this thread is becoming more layered with confusing twists, sub plots and spoilers than the drama itself!

Thought the two previous episodes were good and the legal story line last night was as well, but what came with it in the 'angel/spiritual angle (anagram) disappointing.

I simply didn't understand this latest episode. I THOUGHT the point was going to be that God (Mr Mountjoy) had instructed the 2 angels to follow orders, whether it was in a defending or prosecuting role, and they were supposed to obey and not second guess him. The black angel seemed to lose the plot completely, finally showing himself to a human which we know is prohibited.

    ???

The legal story lines have been good enough on their own, the angels story lines imo have been unnecessary. Many drama series have consistent themes/story lines running through their series but this one is poorly done. The problem being that I don't care about Mr. Mountjoy and the count down to biblical armageddon, it's too far fetched.

I really like this, but then Sam West can do no wrong in my eyes.

Well, it finished last night with 2 million less viewers than it started with, viewing figures declining with every episode. I can see why, the sight of two angels, black and white with wings to match having a girly fight in a church was laughable beyond belief, for a minute I thought it was Bonekickers. The weakness lay in the spiritual side, that should have been ditched and then there would have been enough good, plausible storylines to give it a far batter chance.

    From Radio Times

ITV1 drama Eternal Law will not be returning - so says its main star Samuel West.

The actor, who played 14-billion-year-old angel Zak Gist on the series, announced the news of the show's demise today on Twitter.

"Alas there will be no more Eternal Law," he stated. "Not enough people watched it. A thousand thanks to those of you who did, and said such kind things."

West, 45, went on to add in a follow-up tweet: "I'll miss Zak and the gang enormously, but I'm very proud of the work we did. And we'll always have York. Onward!"

The six-part fantasy drama, from Life on Mars scribes Matthew Graham and Ashley Pharoah, mixed life at a York law firm with otherworldly magic and followed two angels who worked as barristers to aid humans with their earthly problems. Despite a prime rule of non-interference in the free will of humanity, the angels were allowed to guide and comfort.

Eternal Law, which also featured Orla Brady and Tobias Menzies, drew 5.43m viewers when it began on ITV1 back in January. However, it found its audience figures had slipped to just 2.95m by what has turned out to be its final episode.
