Following on from their other Danish TV shows like The Killing and Borgen, BBC4 are showing Flame and Citron this evening from 9 - 11:05

Drama set in Nazi-occupied Copenhagen in 1944 about two resistance fighters. As the Danish resistance carries out dangerous guerrilla attacks on Nazi officers and occupying forces, hot-tempered Flame and cautious family man Citron face treachery from within their own ranks, coming to realise that they can only rely on each other.

In Danish + German with subtitles

I have this on DVD and have watched it a couple of times. It is excellent and features some fine performances from all the cast combined with a superb script and some very good direction. Highly recommended.

ps - it's based on a true story

Well worth seeing, somewhat different approach to the old Rank and British Lion 1950's war films, to say the least!

Another really good foreign one is Black Book.

Also recommended (by me) are Max Manus and Army of Crime (both of which are also based on true stories).

    A good idea, but ...

      Spoiler:
Was Denmark the only country in occupied Europe where assassinations weren't followed by groups of civilians being shot? How come Flame and Citron could wander around the place casually shooting whoever they liked with hardly any mention of any reprisals?

How come there weren't more police & Gestapo check points where they checked everyone's identity?

So they went around assassinating whoever they liked, even though most of them turned out to be innocent, and they still got rewarded with medals?

Army of Shadows and Lucie Aubrac are also excellent.
