Did anyone else used to like this, starring Thora Hird and Christopher Beeny? It also guest starred Joan simms
I always found the theme music at the beginning haunting, although I think it tried its best to be upbeat
.
Does anyone know when this was set? Early 30s?
I hadn't a clue Michelle but just read this and you are right its set in the fictional Yorkshire town of Oldshaw during the 1930s....

Also a fan of this Faginsgirl.
Thora Hird's comedy timing was a strong feature.
Cheers Jim
Yes, she always had great timing Edward, they don`t make actresses like Thora anymore.
The series (with full 25 minute episodes) is on You tube now.

Haven't seen it since first transmission but liked it a lot: Thora Hird and Christopher Beeny were a good team. It was a harmless, light comedy from what I remember.
I`ve just read that Christopher Beeny was a ballet dancer when he was a child.
I hadn`t realised he had been in Emmerdale either.
I secretly hope he will have a cameo in the new Upstairs Downstairs![]()
Luddendenfoot was used for the exterior scenes

I wonder why they killed off Jeramiah Unsworth in the first episode? It seems a bit odd to introduce the character when they could have just started it off when they were at the solicitors finding out they had inherited the place on the second episode.
