Sadly this actually applies for 2016 Olympics.
Please make it soon, like next week. Let Sky have them (and Wimbledon) and then we would see how popular the Olympics really are.

But presumably football should remain sacred to terrestrial because, of course, everyone loves that

I detest soccer so that can go to blazes...I love the Olympics though. The games will give the moaning minority a chance to catchup on some reading or films

Do you remember the movie Independence Day? It was about an alien race that wanders around the universe, descending on hapless planets like Earth and devouring and sucking them dry of every natural resource before moving on to the next planet. That's exactly how I feel about the Olympic organisation - it somehow lures gullible nations into their world of vast expense and corruption, it orders countries and governments around, sucks them dry, and then moves on. I just hate the whole thing.

You will be amazed to know we get but scraps on terrestrial TV, there is about 900% more to be viewed on Sky and other pay to view services. Now as much as I like footy even I feel that there is enough to feast on via BBC/ITV/C5. I often wonder do people really sit at home waiting for live coverage of Wigan and Stoke? [well they might in Wigan and Stoke possibly].

Olympics on Sky sounds like an excellent idea to me though.

I'll miss seeing the proper sports like the runnin' and jumpin', but all the other rubbish isn't worth paying for. I wonder what the chances are that the TV Companies might pay for all the building and facilities too in future, rather than the tax-payers of the world. That would keep the whole thing in-house.

I can't wait to see the Danny Boyle extravaganza though, it sounds like a complete hoot........
