Too young to recall but there is something here

Hi,
Much talk is made about, what we Brits call soaps on our T.V. But one soap is never mentioned. Even in a radio documentary several years ago on the subject. This is; and pardon if I spell it incorrectly; STARR AND COMPANY. I believe it may have been broadcast shortly before CORONATION STREET.
It was about a firm that made buoys. The characters were drawn from the average worker, such as members of the Turner family, and the family who ran the business. Obviously named Starr. It was screened on BBC. It may have had Burt Weedon playing the signature tune when the end credits rolled on.
Does anyone remember the programme? If so, would you like to add comments to this thread?
Thankyou.

Hi Freddy.
Thankyou very much for your contribution. Very interesting. I note that the article carefully uses the word adult when talking about THE GROVE FAMILY. Because there was also during th 1950's, a similar programme for children called THE APPLEYARDS.
Again thankyou.
