Default Watching the Russians

I was just watching the start of Watching the Russians with Stella Rimmington (ex head of MI5) talking about the history of Anglo-Russian relations, especially with regards to "The Great Game" and the spying between them.

While she was giving her introduction they showed various period clips and I'd like some help in identifying one of these. It was a dancing bear in a bar or cafe. The bear turned on its owner and killed him so the young hero, Anton Walbrook, leapt in and stabbed the bear to death!

Who knows their early Anton Walbrook films well enough to be able to identify it from that description?

Steve

It's one or other of the versions of The Adventures of Michael Strogoff/The Courier of the Tsar. Anton filmed 3 different language versions: German, French, and (his only Hollywood movie) English (US title The Soldier & the Lady). I have the US version.

Watch out for Bernard Miles and Mrs Goring (Lucie Mannheim) later on. Some, rather hazy, clips from Tawny Pipit - the welcome to the Russian sniper scenes.

Thanks Doc, There wasn't enough sound to recognise a language. Just a few screams from the ladies as the bear attacked and a few grunts from Anton - and a few from the bear
