Alfred Molina was superb in a nearlier Hancock biopic.

Meanwhile, back at Tarby ....

I find it all a little hard to take from the BBC - First they wipe the performances these actors worked hard to create, then they expend millions getting other actors to recreate those actors for what they are famous for - creating the performances which were wiped by the BBC as valueless ephemera.

Jason Isaacs as Harry and Phil Davis as Wilfred.

My favourite Steptoe is the one with the gay antique dealer who really fancies Harold ,but he doesn't seem to notice. I think Bramble is brilliant in this one.

My favourite Steptoe and Son episode is the one where they have that big argument and end up splitting everything up between them and Harold wants to watch the football on the tv and Harold can only see half his side of the screen.

It reminds me so much of some couples who act like that sometimes.

Personally, I don't like the idea of rooting about in these peoples' privates lives and presenting them as tormented. No doubt some aspects of their stories are overdramatised for the sake of making a good programme. Let's remember them as they appeared to the public, and appreciate the pleasure they gave, not knock them down.

Have just seen the advert of BBC4 for the biopics. Looks like they will be shown over four weeks possibly. What they can add to the Hancock docu-drama will Molina I do not know - suppose there has been a decent interval since it was shown.

They called it "The Curse of Steptoe"? Ugh. What a cliched title.

Ah well, at least they didn't call it "The Boy Who Grew up to Be Steptoe" or something.

Or, "Cor, Blimey".

Sorry, they already used that one.
