Great cooking tips too the taste of any meat is in the fat that's why you should never prick a sausage, and try to buy shop made which are always better than mass produced c**p
I just get disappointed by almost every unusual meat being described as "a bit like chicken" so I once described hare as tasting "like giraffe" and it went on from there

So you've never tried roast parsnips?
They're much better than boiled ones.
Because of the tapering you get a lovely gradation of cooking from the crispy outside with the soft flesh inside at the fat end - down to the pure crispiness at the thin end. Yummie

Carrots in batter are very good as well.

While we are talking about sumptious Christmas dinners, let's give a thought for those living alone and who will be spending Christmas alone.

I just watched Heston Blumenthal's Perfect Christmas. I think that Richard E Grant summed it well when he said it was wonderfully bonkers but brilliantly British

And before any of you nay sayers say nay, it is NOT intended that you should re-create any of this at home although hopefully some of his ideas might inspire you. Whereas most cookery programmes are telling you how to cook things at home, Heston's programmes most definitely are not intended to do that. He is showing you some of the things that are possible and in this case how he can capture all of his Christmas memories into a single meal

Steve

P.S. They used goose for the main course, not turkey

I'm not having turkey anyway - I'm having a Peru bird for Christmas dinner this year.
