Default the final parkinson show

it will be sad to see michael parkinson leave our tv screens.

he's been on our screens for over 35 years and he's a great chat show host

True, but I bet he comes out of retirement within 2 years, and is presenting a new programme.

I think David Robson of the Daily Express summed it up well when he said:Michael Parkinson is still big,it's his guests that got smaller.
I watched some of the last programme tonight and I was in stitches over Peter Kay's antics.

Good show last night and for me the Connolly chat was the best, Jamie Cullum is a good entertainer.

I can't stand Connolly but Jamie Cullum is great, I saw him in concert last year -fantastic!

To be honest, I used to like Peter Kay but he didn't do himself justice on Parkinson's last show. Sad to say but I think the PK bubble has burst.
It's a shame that Parky couldn't have got some bigger names to make his last hurrah something to remember.

Phoenix nights was very good but Peter Kay has been a dissapointment in everything else ,some of Max And Paddy was quite funny...

The concept of celebrity and promotion has changed so much since Parky's classic seventies shows, I guess he has fittted in with what celebs are prepared to offer on a chat show these days ( shamless plugging of latest film or book) I guess he is making the right move in retiring , I though his shows were a shadow of what they use to be, through no fault of his own. I was listening to a discussion on the radio over the weekend about Parky's seventies shows and was reminded of Alec Guiness's appearance and how Guiness gripped the audience with his recollection of meeting James Dean the night before he died and having a premonition of doom while talking to Dean, a feeling he shared with Dean and Guiness advised him to be carefull! Thats what I would consider a very interesting chat show topic!
