Hello and good day to you all!
I too ahve just joined this forum and in the absence of a newcomer's page, I have really rather stuck my foot in the door and jumped staright in with a posting!
Please do excuse me for this misdemeanor.

Just as a background, I spent my childhood in the UK, when England was REALLY England, not what it is now!
Bobbies on the beat, milk floats everywhere, Dixon of Dock Green, Hughie Green on Opportunity Knocks, The Golden Shot, The Saint, etc etc.

Then came things like Magpie, which is where I wanted to leave a message as I have heard, rather belatedly, that one of the original presenters, Tony Bastable had died. For me, these Magpie presenters represented my golden years, and to hear this sad news was awful.
Rest in Peace, Tony.

Anyhow, I moved to West Coast Canada many years ago, before the steady decline of the UK into what it is today, but I still hold fond memories of my years there............:)
I shall be looking in regularly now that I am a member--thanks for having me.

Welcome Gungadin ,you may be a better man than I, but there are some smart cookies on this forum as you will find out .This is a wonderful forum for expressing your knowledge and views , I have learned a lot since joining and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do
By the way, Britain is not as gloomy as people make out even dead canoeists are coming back to life to live here ( I Have taken that remark from an earlier posting on the People leaving Britain in droves thread ) A current news Item over here check it out and Welcome
