Default TV over Christmas

Was pretty awful wasn't it? The Dickens series were excellent I thought, and the great film "Scrooge" appeared but in an awful colour version.
Dr Who with Kylie M was excellently done although I personally do not like the current "Doctor"

There was no Christmas ghost story which was a great shame.

I was a bit saddened by the relentless encroaching of extended editions of 'soaps' at prime time on Christmas night.
I'd like a bit of entertainment on Crimbo night.
Where's the variety?

All I watched was EXTRAS and DR WHO. Absolutely nothing else.

I guess that's why we all collect DVDs and hoard old tapes though?

The only TV programme that I watched and actually enjoyed was Last Man In Hammersmith Palais.

Bats.

The two TV highlights of the season for me were:

Dead of Night: the Exorcism. Genuinely creepy, unnerving and intelligent.

Harry Hill's Xmas Burp! The sight of Shane McGowan singing Fairytale in NY duet with a whale to the accompaniment of Harry on Dot Cotton's dress zipper reduced me to tears of hilarity.

No, brand new one-off. Excellent stuff - even though I never watch all the soaps he goes on about.

This may be a shock to some of you but i BLOODY HATE SOAPS!!!!

At Christmas the clan Knobbykins gathers for a couple of days(believe me,that's quite long enough!) and most of them sit about watching soaps, half an hour of shouting then turn over for another half hour of shouting.....THEN turn over for the second half!!!

The day after Boxing Day Knobbykins is a mere dot on the horizon.

Then i sit around in front of my pc all day with my mate,Glen Livet.NOW THAT'S CHRISTMAS!!!

Thank goodness for DVDs!

I watched To the Manor Born on the telly and it should have been renamed To The Manor Bored, just dreadful, cashing-in on nostalgia once again but with even less comedic qualities than the original series, which in itself was purely a vehicle for Penelope Keith to develop the Margot Leadbetter snob character from The Good Life!

I caught some of The Old Curiosity Shop but it was virtually unrecognisable from the book, it was more of a pantomime, and all this nipping back and forth from Leicester to London as if it was just a quick ride on the Underground!
