Does anyone round here ever think to do a quick search before asking about particular films or television series out on DVD...?

Series 1 & 2

Series 3 & 4

It's ironic that a children's TV show DVD has a Parental Guidance (PG) certificate!

Series 1-4 have been released, but according to some have been badly done, cut, and a terrible transfer.

Anyone see the Channel 4 special over Christmas, when Justin Lee Collins reunited "the cast of Grange Hill circa 1996" to sing Just Say No? Great laugh.

It wasn't very convincing when they did it originally. I can't imagine that it'd be much better now

Hmmmmm....

Just to clarify (for anyone looking to buy the sets).

Yes, there are a few edits, but then again, many commercial archive television releases have also suffered in the same way. It's called 'contractual editing'.

The issue of transfer is simply that the episodes appear somewhat 'filmised'. Why this should be is still open to debate, as the BBC (up to now) seem reluctant to reply to any questions on the subject. Whether it's a 'cock-up' or deliberate, who knows?

To be fair though, the average punter on the street is unlikely to notice or have many complaints, and a re-release/re-issue is highly unlikely, so you pays your money and takes your choice!

I used to have a crush on Lindy Brill, who played Cathy Hargreaves during the seventies.
