Haven't you seen Heston?

This second series of Kill It, Cook It, Eat It is presented by Julia Bradbury. Do you still think she wasn't born that way?

Default Use your brain cells, not your taste buds!

The only reason to eat meat or any other animal product is because you like the taste - but that can never justify the completely unnecessary taking of lives, the cruelty and exploitation inherent in raising animals for food, the waste of resources in production and processing (plant based foods are vastly more efficient in terms of land use, energy input, water use, economy, etc.), the effect on the world food situation (rich countries' meat and dairy means poor countries' starvation), the direct detrimental effects on health (cancers, heart disease, obesity, arteriosclerosis, osteoporosis, etc. etc.), the requirement to clear forests for grazing or feed crop production thus contributing to climate change (and not forgetting that ruminant livestock fart and belch out so much methane, a worse gas than carbon dioxide for global warming, that even the United Nations FAO admits that the billions of farmed animals worldwide have a greater detrimental effect on climate change than all the world's transport put together. Never mind giving up the car or air travel, just stop eating animal products!).

We don't need any animal products to live healthily and thrive and in fact we would be far far better off without them - economically, ecologically and healthwise.

Did the TV programme that makes sensational "entertainment" out of killing tell you that?

Oops, this is supposed to be a movie forum

Which programme was that then? KICIEI certainly didn't make any sensational entertainment (with or without the inverted commas) out of what it did. It was a very serious look at a serious problem, the distancing of people from their sources of food. It always has a few vegetarians amongst the audience.

Linda and Paul McCartney - both vegetarians. One has already succumbed to cancer and the other now has heart problems.

I eat meat because I like it and will continue to do so. I also have an irritable bowel problem; if I go more than one day without any meat at all (even just a couple of bacon rashers) I end up in a lot of discomfort - so I avoid that at all costs. Vegetables, beans etc are lethal for some people with IBS.

I am a fatalist and believe that my 'end', if you like, has already been determined - whatever I eat - and I will take the same chances with my health as, apparently, even vegetarians do.
Personally, I am tired of being told that nearly everything I do and eat is bad for me one week and then good for me the next, so I now ignore such articles like the Plague.

You can kill yourself worrying about things that you can never have any control over or do anything about.

Bon appetit, everybody!

Girly specs!

Have they ever been seen in the same room together?

I was only joking - Julia is probably just one of those women who has a few more male hormones than others.......as I tell myself every time I shave.

So climate change is now the fault of farting livestock. Sure, the number of humans, animals and machines on this planet has not helped, but climate change is a natural phenomena, it has happened many times over the past few million years so why should it suddenly stop happening now? Answer, it hasn't. The planet evolves constantly and it will probably still be around after the last humans are long gone.

Bats.

Happy Birthday Daddy .... I love you!

Well said - that Bats! I agree with you 100%.

I am nearly 53 years old and over 40 years ago, when I was at Junior School (as it was then), we were taught that the Earth is being drawn towards the Sun a little bit every year. What they didn't know was whether Earth would collide with a burning Sun or if the Sun would burn out first, but it was predicted that there would most probably be significant changes to the climate as the two moved closer together.
Now THAT and natural climate change makes much more sense to me.

I do love men with beards (I have had two bearded fiances) and I love to cook but, sad to say, I actually don't drink. I have nothing against alcohol in moderation but I just don't really like the taste or the after-effects. Mind you, I did use cider and Guinness in a couple of recipes last week and there was a little too much for the recipes and I just cannot abide waste...........
My biggest weakness is for men with dark hair and blue eyes - as you've probably already gathered!

Candidates who do not fit all the criteria listed should not automatically believe themselves to be exempt, as much will depend on the final number of candidates and how desperate I am on the night!

Oh - Sandi Toksvig has two children as well!

I agree. The McCartneys even gave their pet dogs vegetarian food, which is wrong. I have nothing against vegetarianism, but each to their own.
