I loved the Goodies ... does it ever get repeated on the millions of digi channels we have in the UK?

I have always had a love for Black pudding after the eccy thump episode :)

I must find them on DVD or on the interweb somewhere as I feel the need for some 70's laughs :)

They even managed to scrape a couple of hit records together .
Funky Gibbon and Black Pudding Bertha(the queen of Northern Soul)
Ecky Thump was THE best sketch of the seventies.Bill Oddie in ridiculously large flat cap and braces belting everyone with a larger than life Black Pudding put Bruce Lee's kung fu antics firmly into perspective.

didn't age well. tried to get my 14 year old son into it, after 2 eps it fell flat. probably would have worked better on a 12 y.o. he yawned his way out.

not that the individuals weren't gifted, but the sexism oooh you are awful anti-poofter humour just falls flat. speeded up footage scenes were ok, the dance numbers were ok, the big christmas specials were ok, but another scene of tim brooke taylor making nancyboy jokes just .. fizzled.

I have a vague recollection that the Goodies might have been repeated breifly on UK Go there havent been many re-runs.

Does anyone remember the advert parodies in the middle of the show there was a running parody in one or two series where the boys would lampoon the then fashionable Heinz Beans ads where kids would recite a poem with regard to Heinz Beans.

The Goodies parody ended with a bucket of beans being thrown over the kids.

the fake ad-breaks worked brilliantly at first transmission. the cut-style matched expectations. the idea of the fake ads worked well on re-viewing, but ads have changed so much, they were like archeology more than humour. The thing is, that you really can sell beans by tipping them all over some twee child now: it would work straight up as an ad.

Maybe thats the lasting good of the goodies: they showed ad-land how to be daring?

Bill Oddie certainly makes no secret of his mental health difficulties (possibly inherited from his mother).

I hadn't heard that the other two were similarly afflicted, but it's not unusual, is it ?
I have to say, though, that Tim Brooke-Taylor in particular seems a remarkably cheery and level-headed chap>

I lived in Melbourne 1979-1982 and The Goodies were on five evenings a week at 6pm on ABC. Happy days, as they say. (No, that was on Channel 7.) Anyway, they were brilliant and does anyone have any copies anywhere? FAR too good to broadcast on the mediocrity channels we licencepayers fund.

I remember that 'The Goodies' were almost the highlight of my weekly viewing in the 70's. Wasn't there a 'Goodies' night on BBC 2 the other year? I remember seeing a couple of their clips shown on this show and they were quite frankly awful.

theres 3 volumes of dvds available ,ive got them all .great stuff !
