I'll tell you what I remember - Peter Barkworth was an Oxbidge intellectual in the RAF who got shot down over France along with Normal Decent Chap Anthony Lynch. They managed to get in the hands of the French Resistance, who called them (I will say this only once) "The Piano Player and The Idiot".

Lynch got involved with Maggie Fitzgibbon, Barkworth with Cyd Hayman. Both ladies got caught: Maggie by the Gestapo in the shape of Phillip Madoc, Cyd by the Abwehr, represented by Robert Hardy as the cleverest agent in the 3rd Reich - if they'd really had someone that bright, we'd all be talking German now.

The good guys all finally got back to Britain, where it transpired that all the desperately important info they had was months out of date and no good to anyone.

Pentimenta: not all the good guys got back to Britain. Peter Barkworth's character was shot in the penultimate episode and Maggie FitzG died trying to get to the escape boat. She never got a chance to read another issue of The Angleton Advertiser. Shame.

Having come late to the February posts can I, with help, get my head around this subject.

(a) I take it Series 2 is still totally unavailable?

(b) If the rights are owned by a Company now "out of business", does anyone know if such companies ever sell rights to rival companies?

(c) Given the nature of the plot of Manhunt, apart from the sight of Cyd Hayman's backside, isn't buying Series 1 really like kissing your sister?

Regards - Bernie

a) so far, but series 1 wasn't that long back....so I wouldn't be too pessimistic.

b) DDHE is continuing under new ownership

c) If Manhunt is like kissing your sister, can I have her phone number???

I am doing you a favour by saying there is No chance of a telephone number!

Of course, what I mean't to say was that buying Series 1 of Manhunt, getting engrossed by the great storyline, and then having to wait for ever for Series 2 (literally for ever?) is a little frustrating to say the least. Who enjoys reading half a book, however good it is?
