No, Michael Medwin...maybe you're confusing it a bit with Bergerac, where TA was Jim's father-in-law, and mixed up with most of the dodginess on the island. A sort of up-market Arthur Daley.

Liz Crowther - what a lovely lady (both in 1980 and 2008) !

Is she related to CRACKERJACK's Leslie Crowther ?

I think Liz is Leslie's daughter, IMDB might confim it.

I liked Shoestring but unfortunately it only lasted two series when Trevor Eve decided to quit. As I remember it was followed by Bergerac, which continued the then new trend of location series, but I don't think John Nettles was enigmatic enough for an anti-hero detective, which was what they wanted to cultivate after the success of Eddie Shoestring. Shoestring was charismatic whereas Bergerac was like a boring brother-in-law, who owned a classic car and had no rapport with anyone in the whole human race and his shiny leather jacket looked like it was bought from the Jersey branch of C&A!!
