australian kids tv show - Britmovie

can anyone remember this australian kids tv show that was on channel 4 in the late eighties/early nineties? all i can remember about it was that amongst the children in it there was brothers and sisters and one of the little brothers was deaf and dum. am sure the dad wore glasses and part of the plot involved discovering something about his past when they find a black and white photo of him
