The fact is that Lewis was a tough guy on and off screen. Not many action stars could say that.

Because a lot of them pretend to be tough on screen - and then they think that means they can be tough in the real world. They quickly find they can't

Who mentioned Ross Kemp?

Mickey Rourke? Not only does he look rather scary with his beaten up face and pumped up body, he gave up acting for a while and became a pro middle weight boxer.

And look what the beatings he took in the ring did to his face. He had to have so much plastic surgery to repair the damage he now looks like this!

yes his face did suffer a bit of damage when he was in the ring though he remained undefeated in his pro career and won a few of his fights with straight knockouts! I think he was an amateur boxer from a very early age, took up acting and then went back to boxing again as a pro, interesting career path! He turned down the Bruce Willis role in "Pulp Fiction" which I think is a pity.

He was indeed a pretty good amateur fighter and was encouraged to turn pro at an early age, but chose acting instead. I didn't know that he was undefeated in his pro fights. Whatever must the other blokes look like?

Shouldn't that be "attend an acting school"?

It's funny that tabloid journalists just can't seem to understand that people do get older, even actors and celebrities, and after 28 years an actor who played a young and fit heart-throb of a CI5 officer may not look quite the same today!

Kind of reminds me of the most recent pic I've seen of Loretta Swit!

Lewis may not be a great actor, but he has personality and charisma. He is certainly much more entertaining to watch than the curly permed AK-TOR.

I saw an episode of the Professionals on ITV3 last week. Very tired I thought.
Gordon Jackson, whilst a credible actor, was just fresh out of Upstairs Downstairs and couldn't really get out of Hudson mode.
"Bodie, Doyle, come along now "................
If I'm not mistaken the original series was shown on Saturday night (like Starsky and Hutch-which I could never get on with).
For me the most appealing parts were watching Doyle drive his RS200 or E type Jag.
I'm not a Lewis Collins fan, never have been.
As most of you in this thread will agree it was reasonably good fun, but simply cannot be mentioned in the same breath as the Sweeney, which was compulsive viewing on Monday nights.
