The guy in question was called Alfredo. I dont remember seeing him at the time but caught his act on the guest spot of re-run of the first series of The Two Ronnies. Ronnie C mentions this act in his Two Ronnies autobiography.

The first series of the Two Ronnies is available on DVD, alternaively you may see re runs again on ITV 3.

I dont know if you remember the BBC 2 series "Internatnional Cabaret." hosted by Kenneth Williams in the seventies, but it struck me that Alfredo would be just the sort of guy who would be a typical artiste on International Cabaret.

Charlie Drake and Peggy Mount were exceedingly scary when I was a toddler and there was a character in Sara and Hoppity who used to scare me can't remember if it was Sara's Dad or perahps there was some regular vilainous character.

Hoppity got on my wick quite frequently with his constant,"Diddle dum diddlee dee.

Commander Shore in Stingray was a cantenkerous old bugger as well.

Something that genuinely scared me was the opening credits for the puppet show Space Patrol, for some reason the monorail scared me and the electronic music that followed.

I was also scared of Inspector Barlow in Z Cars and Sgt Lockhart from No Hiding Place.

Now I am older Iam over all this but I am not afraid to admit that at 48 I recoil in terror everytime I see Alan Titchmarsh.

Welcome bhowells. Obviously you are answering a query that was further back in the thread. It is helpful if you use the quote button so that we know which post you are answering .... especially if it is a long thread.
