Does anyone know what happened to this programme? It wasnt on last year, does anyone know if there are plans to bring it back?!

It was dropped, perhaps due to some problems with the funding of the winner of the first series. I'm not sure if the BBC hasn't dropped premium-rate phoneline tie-in's altogether?

I heard Dara on the radio a while ago saying he was planning another "Three Men..." with Griff.

But how did the funding work? Did the local authorities all enter the competition on the basis that they might suddenly have to produce several millions out of a hat or were they just nominated and then told that the Great British Public expected the money to appear from nowhere? Neither seems to relate to what I know of local government finance.

It states that they started Phase 1 (whatever that is) in 2007.

At least the baths are something that Manchester Council were perhaps planning to restore anyway (they'd only been closed for about 15 years and seemed perfectly fine when I used to swim in them). But my suspicion is that it now pretty hard to get councils to cooperate with a programme that might commit them to spending millions on restoring a windmill or a folly. It's not like the BBC is going to pay up.

I thought the whole funding thing was boring. They should just have stuck to wandering round old ruins. Fascinating stuff and giving local groups some badly needed publicity would have been enough. Once you start giving handouts everyone just gets greedy and start employing managers and administrators.

Those two geeks were sexy together.

Despite three series, the merits of a seaside pier, lido or historic ship have not been considered.

Perhaps there should be a one-off "Restoration Special" to assess examples at immediate risk?

Anyone who watches television news must be aware of the plight of seaside piers.

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has rejected a bid for £1.9m to save Broomhill Lido, Ipswich, closed for six years.

The local authority has pledged £1m if Broomhill Pool Trust can guarantee remaining funds needed to reopen the Olympic-size pool.

City of Adelaide, the world's oldest surviving clipper ship, is stranded at Irvine, North Ayrshire, having previously sunk in the river Clyde.

SCARF (Sunderland City of Adelaide Recovery Foundation) is seeking £2m to take the ship back to Sunderland for restoration and public display. She was built there in 1864.

The programme's credibility may have been damaged by its failure to provide an instant solution for Victoria Baths, Manchester - despite £3.5m from the HLF and phone voting.

HLF had rejected an application for funding - not convinced that Victoria Baths has sufficient popular support.

In light of (subsequent) public vote, that was a serious misjudgment by HLF.

Surely the HLF's "Restoration" grant should be additional to, not a substitute for, conventional HLF funds?

The £3.5m was insufficient for much more than basic repairs to the building's fabric.

id love to see this show back ,it highlighted the history thats sometimes around you or near you that you dont even realise .there was some sort of victorian folly in a south east london park [ might even have been the one used for blowup ? ] that had just become a den for gluesniffers or something ,at least its plight was highlighted otherwise youd never know . its a shame that trashy late night itv phone in shows that were a con affected something quality like this ,whose only link to the itv trash was the phone in element

It was such a great programme and made people sit up and take notice to what lovely buildings we have crumbling away in our towns and cities lets hope they really think about this and bring it back so much can be done to save our old buildings.

Changing tack (nautical metaphor - see what I did there!!) slightly, I'd love to see a 'Restoration' style programme on film....what film would you like to see restored ?? You get to see clips from films awaiting restoration, short doc. items on what film restoration entails, and you vote; only this time any premium-rate profits would be actually sufficient to complete a project, which could then be shown on TV the year later and/or toured.....

Bit of a Bay Window, what??
