ITN British Pathe - Britmovie

The archives of British Pathe have now been acquired by ITN.

Great site, but a great pity a high percent of the newsreels (why??) cannot be shown on your PC. However the written synopsis of each clip is of interest.

There are a number of clips showing many 40's and 50's British film stars at various Film festivals.

One tip. After you register (free and simple), make sure, in your search, that the 'British Pathe' box is ticked.

Hmm, nice fit.

Pathe to cover the start of the century and ITN from the mid 50's. Bit of an overlap, but not much.

And if you look for "Michael Powell" under "British Pathe" you'll see some footage from the cocktail party / reception that was held before the charity screening of AMOLAD which was the first Royal Command Film.

See how many people you can identify :)
