Default When kids shows were entertaining

When kids were kids and not into bombing people on computer games or zooming 20,000 years into the future getting zapped by tranformers (whatever that means). Can anyone remember:

Charlton and the wheelies
Banana splits
Pipkins
Rubarb and custard
H.R puff `n` stuff
Hectors house.

Great stuff

xx

My boy is still very much a kid and he loves Transformers. This programme has been going for nearly 30 years in various incarnations and has entertained millions of other kids. It is generally well produced and well written and has a sound "good is better than evil" message.

He also enjoys Button Moon, Sooty, Tales of the Riverbank, Scooby Doo, Captain Scarlet and Thunderbirds.

"Boom boom a baby .... Banham Zoo .... Banana pants! Hahahaha"

Ahem. It's CHORLTON and the Wheelies. Admittedly, the broad Manc accent doesn't help.

Have to agree with you, but all those programs on your list were clearly created by people who had too many flirts with chemicals. Especially Banana Splits which was an acid trip made real.

Missing from your list is Willo the Wisp, Ivor the Engine, The Flumps, Bagpuss... I could go on for ages. I own most of them on DVD and my own children are watching them too.

Bagpuss is a big favourite in our house too .... along with The Singing Ringing Tree. Four Feather Falls, Twizzle and Torchy also spring to mind.

No, no, no .... TSRT is reserved for me and Mrs Bat. He certainly isn't ready for that yet! Mrs Bat still gets uncomfortable watching it.

Today's kids' programmes aren't exactly drug-free if the fabulous In the Night Garden is anything to go by.
