Default Public Information Film ?

I recall a PIF entitled (I think) Ten Green Bottles.
I reatured a group of kids looking forward to their friends 10th birthday party.
This film is about the dangers of playing (in the 1970's) around and on various machines, pylons, building sites and ....tractors !
Each child in turn, has a very nasty accident and... dies.
The closing shot is of the birthday girl celebrating alone...

Depressing stuff, but can someone please confirm that this exists as friends believe that I am getting confused with all those other PIF ads like Lonely Water for example.

Cheers in advance !

Who remembers the public information film with the elderly man who sits down in his amrchair with a fag and ruminates on the good day he has and sadly falls asleep and sets the house on fire. That one always upset me as a child.

How about the one which I recall is something in connection with looking after your teeth a little boy is in a zoo says,"Look,Mum crocodile" and the Mum replies,"I hope he remembers to clean his teeth.

All I hope that all characters concerned in the film never had to be subjected to the Pam Ayres poem,"Wish I looked after me teeth." I am quite confident that anyone familiar with Pam's poem would rather have tootache.

When I worked in the Islington/Holloway area I often used to drive round the outer circle in Regent's Park on the way there. From Hanover Gate by the Mosque round to Parkway and down into Camden Town. So of course I'd drive past the zoo and you could see some of the taller animals in there from the car.

So I'd tell people that I saw a camel, and an okapi (a horse with a stripy bottom*) and a crocodile.

"You saw a crocodile?" they would ask, "From the car?"

"Yes," I replied, "a crocodile of schoolchildren lined up ready to go in to the zoo."

Steve

* Yes, I know it's actually more closely related to a giraffe, but it looks more like a horse than a giraffe

I "think" that the second film was filmed in and around Turville, although we don't see the church or the windmill on the hill to confirm it.
