Default Man Alive Documentary

Does anybody remember the Harold Williamson episode called Gale is Dead? I saw it as a child in the mid seventies, about a teenage drug addict. It is a sobering but thought-provoking piece of television and it had a profound effect on me which is as relevant now as ever. Seen any sobering or thought-provoking TV lately?Unfortunately it seems that what counts for a documentary these days,is actually more often than not simply a freak show - Channel 5 take note. Tabloid television, I call it. You wouldn't expect anything better from C5 - sadly the 'serious' channels seem to be catering similarly to the lowest common denominator and depressingly,my friends around the globe tell me that British tv is probably the best in the world - God help us all.Anyway that's my light-hearted first post out of the way.Cheers!
