'Bronco' with Ty Hardin, this was our gang's favourite and I can still sing the theme song!

Default British Television: Westerns.

Hi.
Not only was there a series called Sugarfoot, there was also Tenderfoot. Which title you watched it under depended whether it was on commercial television (possibly regional) or BBC.

Commecial television=Sugarfoot.
BBC television= Tenderfoot.

Otherwise it was the same programme with Will Hutchins as Tom Brewster who knew his law.

There was also a novel by the same name. I believe the film Sugarfoot was a cinema version of the novel. The film starred Randolph Scott. I do not think it had anything to do with the television series other than sharing the same title and theme music.

The Scott film has no connection at all to the TV series. The pilot episode for Sugarfoot was a remake of the old Will Rogers western The Boy From Oklahoma.

I was never a big fan of TV westerns - Bonanza was like a soap to me. I did however quite like the Shane series with David Carradine and Jill Ireland when it was repeated in the early days of Ch4.

I am intrigued by this Shane series, I've never heard of it.

Late 60s and in colour. Not all action but very well acted as I recall. It wasn't a hit because it only lasted a season

Cheers Windy .... I'll have to track down some info and (perhaps) the odd sample episode.

Wonder why there was never a Calamity Jane series for television or was there and I missed it.

even back then he was far too young looking to be a lawman.
