Default Best British TV Shows - Past & Present

Hello everyone

Being an Aussie in Australia, we get limited British tv shows aired over here, and when we do, they are generally late at night/early morning, or replayed replays of replays. :):)

My favourite British show of all time would have to be On The Buses, followed closely by Only Fools And Horses.

I remember as a kid watching shows like Love Thy Neighbour, Father Dear Father, Doctor In The House etc.
I was just wondering if any of you Brits might be able to tell me what TV shows, from well in the past, to the present, YOU would put in say your top 10 ?
I'm specifically seeking opinions on TV shows/series.

Thanks heaps

Arguably the very best ITV comedy drama [that's what they'd call it now] is currently being repeated on ITV3: the Beiderbecke Trilogy - Affair/Tapes/Connection - with James Bolam and Barbara Flynn.

Pure genius

All the best

Hi Fell
Good catching up with you again.
That's not one i've heard of to be honest, but will look it up for sure.
I was however, more thinking of the TV shows/series that were hugely popular and would be more well known.
Any thoughts ?

Dave

I am really into, and always have been into historical drama.

Poldark was really good. A Georgian drama.
I remember watching `when the boat comes in` with fond memories. I think it was set in the 1930`s. It starred James Bolam.

I am going back quite a long time when they were televised more like plays than programmes with fancy film work. Not that I am knocking todays historical drama, both techniques can be good viewing.

xx

Secret army is good too. Now repeated on UKTV HISTORY (in fact as I speak).

The only annoying thing is that EVERY BODY (Including the Germans and the French) appear to be English, its a bit confusing! Just think `Allo allo and all will become clearer

I thought they were all Belgians. Anyway, it's better that all those terible phoney accents that could have been appeared.
