Television Ratings - Britmovie

May i ask whether any of our members, from anywhere in the world, have ever taken part or been involved in an official TV Ratings survey?
Seems TV ratings the world over are held in very high esteem by television channels and could be the be all or the bitter end to a particular programs life.
Yet in all my years i have yet to even meet ANYONE who has been asked to take part in a survey.
How are the lucky few actually chosen?
Do the surveys really represent what most of us are watching?
