One of the spookiest stories I have heard was told by actor Telly Savalas (Kojak) in an interview some years ago.
One night in November 1957 Telly was driving in an area of Long Island,NY when he ran out of petrol. He was walking towards a petrol station when a black Cadillac appeared alongside him and a man with a rather high pitched voice asked if he would like a lift.Telly got into the car and noticed that the man was dressed in a distinctive suit. They exchanged conversation with Telly not failing to notice his unusual high pitched speech. The man drove him to the service station and even handed Telly some money to help pay for the petrol. Telly asked how he could repay the money to him and the man wrote down his name Harry Agannis together with his address and phone number. Days later Telly phoned the number given and asked for Harry Agannis.A young lady answered the call and told Telly that Harry was her husband - but he had died three years previously. Thinking that some mistake had been made Telly decided to visit the address the man in the car had given him. There he met the lady who had spoken to him on the phone. He showed the lady the paper with her husband's written details and she confirmed that it was her late husbands handwriting.Savalas described the clothes the man had been wearing and they matched what the ladies husband had been buried in.Harry Agannis had also died as a result of throat cancer hence his unusual pitched voice. Some time later Savalas again saw Harry Agannis while playing a round of golf.He was dressed in a complete white suit and gestured to Telly. He then appeared to disappear. Telly mentioned in the same interview a third meeting with the ghost of Harry Agannis, details of which he did not wish to recall.Apparantly Telly had been given a message but when asked about it Savalas would not elaborate. Obviously the ghost of Harry had something specific that needed to be passed on to Telly Savalas at that time. Telly Savalas himself passed away in 1994. Dave. |

Les Dawson played the Sunderland Empire in 1989, using the dressing room allocated to the late, great, Sid James at the time of his death onstage there.
After that visit Dawson said that what he saw there would haunt him for the rest of his days and swore that he would never go back. Rumours were that he saw a vision in that room, connected with Sid James, although the theatre itself was reputed to be haunted for many years prior to Sid's death. Anyone know any more in connection with this story ? SMUDGE

I'm not a fan of MH. Didn't Derek used to be a footballer(??) hmmm. Anyway, that being said, I do believe in ghosts. My aunt and uncle lived in a haunted house. This was back in the early 70s. They bought a house in Wimbledon and moved in and everything was hunky dory - or so it seemed! After a few months of living there, my cousins told my aunt that they kept hearing footsteps walking along the upstairs landing at night. My aunt as yet hadn't heard anything at all or experienced any strange noises tried to make excuses and said it was just floorboards creaking. One night, my uncle came home from work (at the time he was a minicab driver on nights) about 3.00am, made a cup of tea and took it up to bed. My aunt awoke and was talking to him while he drank his tea and when she turned round to put out the lamp she asked my uncle "who's that old lady?". He says, "what old lady?" and she says "the one sitting next to me here by the bed". To which he replies - "oh I know, I've seen her before"! When my aunt turned back again, the old lady had gone. My aunt hadn't actually realised she was seeing a ghost but thought a real person was sitting on the chair by the bedside table. My uncle then basically told her the whole story about the amount of times he had come in from work in the early hours of the morning to find the old lady sitting on the stairs - just looking at him. He just ignored it and said nothing to anyone else for fear of frightening the living whatsit out of everyone. They saw the old lady on a few more occasions after this and also still heard the noises of walking. They never got to the bottom of who she was or the story behind. They said they were never happy in the house and sold it not long after. Two things did spring to mind to them afterwards. One - when they were chatting to the guy that used to own it when they went to measure up for carpets/curtains, he said to them "I hope you will be a lot happier here than I was" and sort of laughed. They never really picked up on it at the time but I don't spose you would really, knowing that the chap was selling the place. Two - when they were decorating, they uncovered a door in the kitchen that led to a cellar that was full of old furniture. Another uncle took it away to a second hand shop. Could it have been the old lady's furniture? Who knows - but that's a true story! ghostly

I for one would be interest ed to hear your UFO experience's. I too have visted Pluckley mainly because "Darling Buds Of May" was filmed there. I didn't know about it's haunted reputation until later. Ghostly sightings have interested me before and i've visited places like Borley but have not seen anything out of the ordinary. I suppose you have to be more on the psychic level to pick up on happenings. Wiltshire, your home area, is steeped in all sort's of paranormal activities and legends. I remember many year's ago the huge coverage the UFO sighting's over Warminster received. Of course it's also in your neck of the woods where the most crop circle activities appear to happen. I love the mystique of the area with places like Glastonbury Tor, Stonehenge, Avebury and surrounding area's, all steeped in history and folklore. Not to mention it's connections to Arthur and the Holy Grail. Isn't it there that the earth's natural power grids are said to cross? Very interesting but also very spooky Please share more Wossy. By the way that MOST HAUNTED investigation of Elstree should be a cracker. I wonder which well known but passed on actor's still 'spirit' the area.? Hope some of our member's who watch the show will pass on the findings on this forum. Dave. |

Most Haunted Live I recently started watching MH on pay here in OZ. I really enjoy it and would love it to be true. Some of the episodes have been a little thin but that one at the "most haunted" airfield was a ripper. The one I saw last night was at "Moresby Hall" and I thought it was probably the weakest episode so far. Although I have never had a ghostly experience I do know a couple of trusted friends that have. I like Derek but he sure gets a slagging on that "badpsychic" site. Is he really that bad? |

Most Haunted, I don't think so.
I have had the mis-fortune to being 'force-watched' this programme from the start by the other half. It has progressively got more and more unbelievable. At first it was the 'orb' and 'light anonally' (sorry can't spell). The it moved on to sounds, temperature drops, feelings of unwell. Now we are at the stage of Derek Acorah being possessed and Annette Fielding having panic attacks over people standing behind her....BOO. We have friends who recently went to a 'LIVE', which they described as rubbish and half way through half the audience wanted to go home, but production team pleaded with them to stay!! This occured on the same one when one of the crew was heard to say 'Come on we've got to get things going' ? |

Not a ghost of a chance this show is serious
FERGUS SHEPPARD MEDIA CORRESPONDENT MAKERS of the cult supernatural show Most Haunted were in high spirits last night after being cleared of allegations that they duped viewers. Several people complained that the Living TV show, featuring psychic Derek Acorah, had deceived viewers when it claimed to have uncovered paranormal activity. But in one of its more unusual rulings, the watchdog Ofcom said the programme could not be taken seriously and therefore could not be a fake. The show routinely visits allegedly haunted venues in an attempt to commune with the spirits of the dead. Sudden nocturnal bangings, camera work similar to horror film The Blair Witch Project and heavy use of green night filters are trademarks of the format. However, Ofcom took a more down-to-earth view of Most Haunted and its equally successful spin-off, Most Haunted Live. It said: "The show contains a high degree of showmanship that puts it beyond what we believe to be a generally accepted understanding of what comprises a legitimate investigation. "On balance we consider that overall Most Haunted/Most Haunted Live should be taken to be a programme produced for entertainment purposes." Most Haunted, now in its sixth series, has routinely attracted audiences of one million per show - an impressive feat for a digital TV channel. Its stunts have included attempts to get inside the mind of Jack the Ripper and stalking the footsteps of ghosts said to linger at Tower Bridge in London. Ofcom appeared unimpressed by "occasional assertions" that what viewers were witnessing was a genuine paranormal occurrence. "This programme should be seen in the light of shows where techniques are used which mean the audience is not necessarily in full possession of the facts," the watchdog said. The Most Haunted format has been sold to the United States and further spin-offs involving the undead are in the pipeline. Coming up next year is Derek Acorah's Top Ten Possessions, in which the Virgin Radio DJ Christian O'Connell examines the psychic's best "possessed moments". |

I think the show has run out of ideas.
The latest episode's I've seen seem to spend a great deal of time asking spirit's to lift tables and make knocking sounds. Whether you believe the happenings on the show or not it is quite obvious that for "entertainment" value the show must include some "action" to keep viewer's interested. It always seems strange to me that once psychic Derek Acorah has told everyone who, in his opinion, is haunting the site that the unqualified crew then perform a night vigil asking stupid questions like "Is anybody there?" and "Can you show us a sign?" After a while I think even the spirit's would get bored with that repetitious carry-on. I wonder who the people were that complaned? They must have taken the show seriously enough to go to all that trouble. Dave. |

I think that there is a lot of tampering with video/dvd recordings. I have watched MH on occasions and have turned over to something else because appart from someone saying 'did you hear/feel that?' and a few screams, etc. you NEVER ACTUALLY SEE ANYTHING!!
Those 'orbs' of light that only digital cameras seem to able to pick up could only be static electricity. Who/whatever these mediums believe they are getting 'messages' from, I'm convinced that they ain't the spirits of our long departed! Don't forget that if the powers of light have knowledge of past/present/future, so do the powers of darkness - and with what is happening in the world today, you have certainly got to believe that ther is something very evil in this world!! In the day that a man dies all of thoughts die with him, there is no comfort in the grave. All manifestations, I believe are from evil. Even those who 'benefit' people. The devil is always appearing as an angel of light.' So guys and gals, here endeth the first lesson and it is only my opinion. I do believe that we should not meddle with the 'unknown'; so MH is just entertainment and nothing more.

i reckon i,ve seen 5 good sightings, first one in 1967 started it all off!,i had witness's to three of them(different people) probably the best two(in my view) were within one month in 1999,although i did have the photo equipment indoors and ready,i wasnt on 'ufo lookout' for either and both sightings were over in seconds!
i,m actually bitterly disappointed in the responses i,ve/we,ve had regarding all 5 sightings, and the chances are i might not see another one. i realise people want pictures on film&tape and i'm certain now that your wasting your breath without it.(not that i,ve been too convinced by most of the footage i,ve seen anyway mind!) incidentally ...only one of our sightings involved a 'flashing light'and that was a fantastically powerful single 'strobe'which was visible for a mere 2 secs. or so! i,m a great believer of you have to be looking in the right place at exactly the right time in the ufo game,i saw the 'strobe' alone and yet my partner was outside with me and was too late to turn her head and see it! |
