Default Favourite Corrie Double Acts

Thinking about this there have quite a few great double actS,as well as obvious ones like, Stan and Hilda and Vera and Jack, there were a couple of good ones in the very early days, Emily Nugent and Swindley, Len Fairclough and Jerry Booth, Elsie and Dennis Tanner.

But I have to say that the Oggies were my favourite.

Yes Donna, Jack and Annie were good, Jack was so patient and long suffering, he had a catchrphrsas as he could often be heard to say,"Neigh, Annie love."

Similarly, Minnie Caldwell also said,"Eh, I am sorry Ena!"

Victorir Wood's Corrie parody is a work of genius, anyone who hasnt seen it please do,it is an absolute treat and highly affectionate in tone.

I always though Rita and Mavis in't Kabin were a good pairing, here they are with the legendary Bet Lynch!

Great photo, Mark O.
I think world weary Rita and mousy Mavis were a great double act, musing on the ways of the world from the lofty perch of the corner shop. I used to love hearing a bewildered Mavis say " I don't really know!"

Barbara Knox who plays Rita is very good at doing comedy, she popped up at least once on the Clitheroe Kid. In common with Street coleagues such as Eileen Debyshire, Irene Sutcliffe(Maggie Clegg in the street) and Graham Haberfield she did a lot of radio plays.

i thought mavis and derek wilton were daft yet funny! it was really great when des barnes used to wind them up all the time. i can remember when he pinched a garden gnome from dereks back garden and des kept sending him postcards from different places sent from the gnome! derek nearly had a break down through it!

Moving to the present day, Eileen, Lloyd and Steve in any combination do some nice comic pieces. I think Becky and Roy also make an excellent odd couple.
