Rowan And Martin's Laugh In
Fond memories for me for this show, it was first shown over here on BBC2 on a Sunday night. The Laugh In crowd were zany before the Pythons.
Remember some of the regulars, Artie Johnson in German officer uniform with the catchphrase,"Very interesting but stupid. He also used to come on at the end in that character and say"Goodnight Lucy wherever you are, apparently that was a reference to Lucille Ball who's Lucy Show was on a rival network.
There was Henry Gibson as he prissy poet with flower in hand, Dave Madden who told a a joke and threw something that looked a handful of peantuts in the hair,Joanne Worley witth her chickent jokes, I could go on.
Even at the young age of eight I was very much aware that there was a different sense of humour at the side of the Atlantic.
