If I put my thinking cap on I could come up with loads, but a few come to mind,Bruces Big Night, Brighton Belles, the revvial of the Liver Birds and the ill feted soaps Castle, El Dorado, Albion Market and the Crezz.
Bruces big night wasnt a bad idea, but I daresay it was too long a show running to about two and a half hours I believe. They recreated some of the Glums sketches didnt they, Jimmy Edwards reprising Mr Glum and Ian Lavender and Patricia Brake as Ron and Eth. Ronnie Barker did it on telly in the sixties in a one off. |

I used to like Eladorado!
.........one sit-com that last for one episode only in the mid-70's comes to mind, I think Norman Rossington was the 'Star' , apparently Monkeys were now doing the Mens work in the Factory he was employed at, and that was it!Brighton Belles had potential, but I can only really recall John Boht's all over the place accent! ![]()

One of the regular characters was Roland Curram who had a couple of small scenes in the popular Britmovie 'Peeping Tom', one scene was with Cornelia Frances (Michael Powells Niece) who was and still is a very big Soap star in Australia, she did their version of 'Weakest link', in the scene they were leaving Pinewood Studio in (what maybe) an old Morris Cowley......

Eldorado is the king of flops and must have cost the Beeb a bomb as I recall the set was purpose built?
There's also those like Celebrity Wrestling that get cancelled mid-run. |
