We all remember those days in the seventies and eighties when the schedules were full of ITV comedies, I am not talking here about the well known stuff like Please Sir, On the Buses etc, but the glut of good bad and indifferent shows that have now been forgotten.

How about some of these titles to jog the memory,"Sadie Its Cold Outside." written by Jack Rosenthal and starring Rosmeary Leach, "My Son Reuben." Robin Bailey in,"Sorry I'm a Stranger Here Myself.", Bill Maynard in Life Of Riley, which came along before he starred in "Selwyn Frogett", Harry H Corbett as ,"Grundy." the list is endless.

When I was in my early twenties I thouht most itv comedy was dire, but we musnt forget the good stuff like,"Rising Damp.", "Shelley." "Whoops Apocalypse."

Of course the BBC also had their fair share of duds with shows like,"Come Back Mrs Noah," "Wyatts Watchdogs."

there was a comedy with john thaw and bob hoskins before they became big stars for other things .that was a bit of a dud ,only lasted one series . someone on this forum will know the title

The first episodes of "Thick as Thieves" was included as an extra on the first "Sweeney" box set.

Embarassingly unfunny, I thought ! Bob Hoskins tried his hardest, but John Thaw was just no good at comedy at all.

The series was obviously a Southern rewrite of "Whatever happened to the likely lads", but with all the subtlety removed.

another dud itv comedy was trippers day with leonard rossiter about a supermarket manager ,bruce forsyth took over after leonard died and they changed the name to slingers day , sling your hook more like

oh and blimey who could forget bottle boys with robin askwith ,that was dreadful . so bad id like to see it again ! it was never repeated

A couple from the early 80's that i liked were Roots and Fancy Wanders.

Roots was a total flop that was quickly relegated to a late night slot. The main character was a Jewish dentist. Roots; get it.

Fancy Wanders was a vehicle for Dave King. Again this was a flop, but there were some very funny moments.

Wonder if they will ever see the light of day again.

This is very vague, but when Dads Army was in its prime, ITV came up with a suspiciously similar sit com set in a police station - with the pompous one, the young one, the posh one, the doddery old one etc etc. It lacked everything that a sit com needs! No idea what it was called.

Talking of shopping channels on digital tv anyone remeber a short lived shopping channel circa 2000, which had David Emanuel as presenter.

Try Odd Man Out, a John Inman vehicle from 1977 when he wasn't filming AYBS. It really is quite poor.
