One of the funniest regular characters in a sitcom who only spoke a few lines of dialogue each week has to be Father Jack. The outbursts of "drink ." and "feck." were exquisite and always worth waiting for.

Dandy Nichols as Elsie had comparitvely few lines, but it was marvelous just watching her chew sweets while Alf went off one one of his tirades.
Eddie Malin was also priceless as Walter (Have you been.), I am sure he also played the part of Brother Paul in Oh Brother, maybe a forum member could confirm this.

Other great non speaking stooges were Madge Alsop and Hylda Bakers mate, Cynthia.

Johnny Vyvian was also good at saying very little whilst looking thoroughly miserable.

Lest we forget, Jacko from Love Thy Neighbour(I'll have a laugh." and another silent Walter who was in Emmerdale.

Sorry a couple of errors in my previous post, Eddie Malin played Walter in Nearest and Dearest, and Jacko in Love Thy Neighbour's catchprhase was,"I'll Have a Half.

Mum in Citizen Smith often had some naive one-liners, and Trigger in Only Fools and Horses got years of milage from 'Dave.'

I neglected to mention Burt Palmer as Uncle Stavely, in "I Didnt Know You Cared." with his immortal catchprhase,"I heard that, pardon?"

There's also the great unseen characters from sitcoms, Harry Worth's Auntie, Nick Swaneys mum i One In The Grave and Sally Geesons mate Randy Sandy in Bless This House.
