Default Rebus

I recently took out set 1 of REBUS from my local public library and enjoyed it a great deal. I was just checking the library's website to see if they had any more and I found and ordered set 2 and another set that appears to have a different actor playing John Rebus. Can anyone fill me in on the reason for the change and also tell me how long it ran and is it still on? Thanks.

John Hannah was the first to play the character but it was felt later that he was too 'clean cut' to play the Highland Park quaffing Rebus. Ken Stott then took over and in many ways is a better choice. To my knowledge the series hasn't officially ended but if they are adapting the books there is a limit because the final one has been written (unless Rakin does a 'Conan-Doyle' but I have a feeling that won't be happening).

Thats the joke that killed the Music Hall !

I thought Ken definitely said he wouldn't do any more. The Hannah ones were a different production company I think.
