He was in Dr Simon Locke, but not Police Surgeon. See my earlier post on the subject in this thread.

I'd like to concur with the previous posters who've praised Boney. A top notch series I've always thought, would love to see that come out on dvd.

Funny, I'm an Aussie but I didn't watch Boney and I've never even heard of Round the Twist!

That was another of Michael Powell's "projects that never quite happened". His son Columba (as seen in Peeping Tom) told me that Michael liked the books and even optioned them at one time. But it was when he was finding it difficult to get any films made, even in Australia.

Default The Magic Boomerang

No one ever seems to have heard of "The Magic Boomerang" (1965) but I recall it brightening up kids schedules in the mid 60s. Whenever the boomerang was thrown it caused everything to timestop except the young hero - and unlike any boomerang I have ever thrown - it always came straight back to him. (Mental note - must try and find out what purpose a boomerang serves anyway)

The first Australian show I ever remember being on local TV was "Homicide" (1964) which I never saw as it was on late - but heard it was awful.

Other early programmes I remember were THE FLYING DOCTOR and WHIPLASH, and years later I worked with the cameraman who was pretty chuffed I remembered the show as he thought everyone had forgotten it.

I remember Magic Boomerang.

Again I am going alittle off thread but does anyone remember The Forest Rangers a Canadian series starring Gordon Pinsent. The soundtrack always sounded a bit wobbly to me I am sure the prints were crap. Peyton Place was the same.

It was a weapon with which to kill (kangaroos, presumably), but if it missed it would return, not get lost.

What do you call a boomerang that doesn't come back?

A stick

Haha, very funny Stevo!

Wikipedia says this...
Other types of boomerang are of the non-returning sort, and indeed, some are not thrown at all but are used in hand-to-hand combat by Aboriginal people. Boomerangs can be variously used as hunting weapons, percussive musical instruments, battle clubs, fire-starters, decoys for hunting waterfowl, and as recreational play toys

Homicide was terrific! What's not to love about a group of 1970s detectives in pork-pie hats and bri-nylon shirts!

It also ended up being sent up by the people who over-dubbed Bluey.

YouTube - Bargearse - Episode 1

(Sorry can't find a link for the Homicide send up.
