Default Un-Reality Television!

Can we now have a reality show entitled 'I'd do anything to pick the worst contestant'?

Personally I can no longer stand the strain!
I thought Gethin Jones was streets ahead in the last Strictly Come Dancing but Len Goodman puts him out to favour the chap falling over his feet and forgetting the routine.
The singer Rhyddian performed with exceptional brilliance in the X-Factor, with perfect pitch only to lose out to a second rater never seen again.

Now we have 'I'd do anything' with the gorgeous Jessie looking a dream, singing (again) in perfect pitch and performing with the young Oliver to perfection. Actually wanted in the show by Lloyd Webber and Mackintosh but she loses out to a Peggy Mount lookalike and sound alike

The same evening we have the winner of Britain's Got Talent (un-used!)
being won by a lad dancing as if his finger is stuck in a light socket whist the voters ignore the five (again) gorgeous girls in mini skirts playing fantastic music, a couple of Sikhs brilliantly funny and talented, two cheeky monkeys who were clear winners again, and a couple of young chaps performing gymnastic dancing to perfection again.

I always had total faith in the great British public - until now. I think I'm losing the will to live

This was discussed on Front Row yesterday. The feeling was that the public are getting a little fed up of Simon Cowell wanting to plug the people he can make most money out of (ie singers) and Lloyd Webber's favouritism was getting a little annoying. Plus, people just liked the winners. I liked Jodie (the Nancy winner ) myself though obviously not enough to vote. Size 14 is hardly elephantine (not that I mean to criticise the lovely Peggy)

I'm not familiar with any of these programmes, but I wonder if there is a lot of deliberate comedy voting taking place by the public?

I speak as a viewer only of course, but it was clear that Lloyd Webber and Mackintosh wanted Jessie to play the part of Nancy in Oliver. I must assume as they would assume that this girl would sell more tickets than any of the other girls. They are putting their money where their mouths are (i.e., millions). It might be interesting to see if this format is repeated to find the next stage leading lady - I did hear that Webber was not happy to do this one. My joke point rings true - I did trust the public
but not any more with my millions (if I had any!)

Lloyd Webber was the one who selected the final 10 - if he didn't like his winner (or indeed the idea of the public choosing) maybe he should have chosen more carefully and considered whether the squillions worth of free publiciity is actually worth it. It may just be that the public are fed up with his fake tantrums and lecturing about how the public have made the wrong choice every week. Or it may be that voters just like Jodie! The advance sales are humungous so I don't think Cameron needs to worry about the show losing money.

I can accept that the voters chose Jodie because since the voting scandal rigging is now a no-no. But one should take on board that most of the voters who would vote for Jodie are (I suggest!) north of Watford or even Northampton and will not be the main ticket buyers in the South East who are a bit to 'high brow' to bother picking up the telephone.

Possibly - though I'm not sure why SE viewers would particularly favour Jessie (were there any Londoners among the finalists?). As I say, I liked Jodie and I might even see the show but I never vote for these things. But I don't think the actual choise of winner effects ticket sales that mcuh and they've got another 6 months in which to sell tickets (fingers crossed that none of the boys' voices break in that time)

Are there any 'Londoners' in London
I was thinking of the Home Counties really. The tweed set.

I have not given `I`d do anything` the time of day! I have seen bits and clips, which have been forced down my throat, as with the sound of music one!

As FG, these ladies are not a patch on the real me!

If I was erhem......slightly younger,, could sing a single note and not sound more like a howling Bullseye rather than a Nancy, then I would have beaten the LOT of them.

xx

A colleague told that this year the house will decorated like a prison .... I wonder if it'll have an execution chamber so viewers can vote for who gets the long drop!

Apparently they'll have to grow their own food so we can only hope for a plague of locusts!
