Default Blackadder Reunion

Taken from the excellent Digital Spy.

Robinson discusses 'Blackadder' reunion

Monday, June 9 2008, 18:43 BST

By Simon Reynolds, Entertainment Reporter

Channel 4
Tony Robinson has revealed that the classic BBC sitcom Blackadder could be revived in 2010.

The cast will reportedly meet later in the year to discuss potentially bringing back the show to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Blackadder II.

Robinson, who played the increasingly dimwitted Baldrick on the sitcom, told Teletext: "We always had a fantasy of doing it again in 2010, so we'll be having that conversation. I would love to do it and suspect Rowan Atkinson would too."

Regards

Freddy

Wasn't there talk of a Blackadder V set in the 1960s, with Blackadder a spiv? I never got to see BLACKADDER: THE CAVALIER YEARS but thoroughly enjoyed BLACKADDER'S CHRISTMAS CAROL, and BLACKADDER GOES BACK AND FORTH in that order.

This was never a series. It was just a couple of scenes broadcast on a 'Comic Relief' night.

The 60's series mooted in the mid-90's was supposedly going to be called The Blackadder Five IIRC and the characters were going to be a struggling jazz band around the time of Beatlemania. Interesting idea but not sure it would've made a series.

The Sci-Fi version as hinted at in the 'Christmas Yet To Come' sequence in Blackadder's Christmas Carol could be a runner....if you don't mind seeing the entire male cast in posing pouches....

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

The Cavalier Years sketches are, inevitably, on Youtube.

I always assumed this was the Blackadder equivalant of 'we might make the odd special' when a great TV series finishes and they've no intention of making any new episodes but don't want to appear selfish to fans of the show

Personally I would leave it well alone .... the 'last ever episode' can never be topped so I really can't see the point .... unless it's to get Robinson a proper acting job.

I wish I had claws.

I think the last I heard was Tony Robinson last year suggesting a movie was in the pipeline, but that's been mooted for nearly a decade. It's probably best left alone as they'll struggle to do the original series justice.

So the secret is out .... Robinson mentions a possible movie and now a possible new series. Tony is having delusions that one he will be cool again!

Saying that, after Blackadder goes forth they did that horendous time machine one, even though it was just a one off. People just forgot about it anyway cos it was crud.

They will never top goes forth obviously, but still, maybe another series will be quite good, as long as they stick to the same writers and cast.

And I really like the other work of Tony Robinson, his worst jobs in history is really interesting, and after all, presenting is just acting, I think he does a good job, he seems to really do his research too.

xx

Well, I think they would do it for the right reasons...I can't imagine any of them need the money..

Exactly. So if they aren`t confident that it is good enough they could just scrap it and discontinue with the production. It happens!
