'Roughnecks' and 'Out of the Blue' were treated terribly by the BBC. Both critically acclaimed but dropped without an explaination hoping that the following year the audience will have forgot. What happened to the much touted 'State of Play 2'?

If you see God, Tell Him - written by Andrew Marshall & David Renwick and starring Richard Briers.

I thought it was a very promising few episodes but evidently the subject matter was too strong for somebody who mattered.

Bruces Big Night, a brave try but a bit too long at two and a half hours, a bit too much Brucie for even diehahrd fans.

I think this was intended just to run for six weeks.

Talking of Andrew Marshall his Health and Efficiency series only lasted a few seasons.

I always thought that 2 Point 4 Children by Marshall outstayed its welcome in the end. Towards the end they tried the American idea of bringng different writers in.

Always been a great fan of Marshall and Renwick, their styles are similar and indeed thery shared the same sense of humour. But whilst Renwick was meitcolus and spent a long time writing One Foot in the Grave, Marshall was able to churn out 2 Point 4 annualy and found time to write Health and Efficency as well.

By the standards of today's drama, it was positively Shavian!

Actually I thoroughly enjoyed it.

All the best

I think I'm correct that only 9 episodes were ever shown.

Not sure EHV; this is the series review from Play.com site...

Available for the first time on DVD, John Sullivan's comedy series set in and around the office of Cresta Cabs, is a welcome sight indeed.

Stressed-out and drained by his ever-weird workforce, Sam (Robert Daws) desperately tries to keep his employees in line whilst promoting - in his opinion - the good name of the company. However, the business would have sunk along time ago if it wasn't for the efforts of Sam's right-hand woman, Reen (Pippa Guard). Mind you, even Pippa's going to have trouble with this motley rabble!

Episodes Comprise:

1. Even Quasimodo Pulled
2. I Used To Be A Superb Rugby Player
3. Socks With Little Tennis Players On Them
4. There Are No Minicabs In Heaven
5. Some Get The Magic, Some Get The Tragic
6. The Day The Music Died
7. Welcome To Responsibilityville
8. Every Victim Wishes He'd Kept His Clothes On
9. Sometimes It's Hard To Be A Man
10. Ask The 1975 Millwall Defence
11. I'm Not A Little Baby And Daddy Hasn't Gone To Japan
12. Too Much Wine, Too Many Stars
13. Love Rules The Heart, Money Takes The Soul

All you get is a messsage saying not available to order yet, I have tried a few sites & get the same or similar message. Very frustrating!! Been like this for months & months.

I think six episodes were shown in series one, and only three in series two before the pulling or dropping.

I'd hardly say that The Onedin Line was dropped suddenly.

There were 91 Episodes which lasted for the best part of a decade (1971 to 1980), yes it finished but it was no surprise that Series 8 would be the last.

Quite a good if unfinished site on the Onedin Line here:

I'm not saying your theory is wrong, but surely they would have then continued the show with Davina instead?

I hear the Union Jack still remains.I see Namijira in custody

Default Duck Patrol

Richard Wilson sitcom from 1998 about the river police, with a guy called David Tennent - now what happened to him?
One season, never repeated as far as I know...

I remember seeing it. It was one of those many shows that ITV offer us where you have to have your hands over your eyes to hide your embarrassment. It was that awful.

I felt the same way about the sitcom Barbara, very cringeworthy.
